Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Plans To Invest $12bn In Egypt For Solar And Wind Projects

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power intends to invest $12 billion in the Egyptian market over the course of the next five years. It plans to establish solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 4.2GW from $7.5 billion in investments. The plans include the implementation of a series of projects, including the 2.25GW capacity Dayrout power plant and three 150MW-capacity solar and wind plants. Organisations financing the projects include the Chinese Silk Road Fund, the Saudi Investment Fund and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

611,000 PV Panels Installed As TerniEnergia Completes 82.5MW South African Plant

TerniEnergia SpA has successfully completed the PV plant in the Western Cape of South Africa, ahead of its forecasted completion date. The site of Paleisheuwel, situated across a 240-hectar area of the Western Cape Province, has employed the forces of 500 workers to install the 611,000 photovoltaic PV panels, an overall total of 101,850 structures, as well as, 7 million kg of metallic carpentry and 3000 km of electric cabling in the process. Canadian Solar Connects Six Solar Power Plants And Exceeds 100MWp In UK

Canadian Solar Inc., one of the world’s largest solar power companies, has announced that it has connected an additional six solar power plants, totaling 39.4MWp to the grid, bringing its total fleet of solar power plants in commercial operation in the United Kingdom to approximately 103.0MWp. The six solar power plants were connected to the grid in March 2016 under the Renewable Obligations Certificate (ROC) program. The PV plant of the university hospital was awarded due to its model character, its good performance and its contribution to the regional development of the eastern Anatolian province Malatya. Inaugurated in 2015, it has accounted for around one-third of the electricity consumption of the university clinic, that is fully ventilated, heated and cooled by air-conditioning systems. 22,177 Jinko modules are installed. Total costs were 6.4 million Euro. 85 percent were covered by a 7-year bank loan and 15 percent through the general state budget.

Saudi Arabian Acwa Power Acquires 50MW Solar Project In Jordan

The acquisition for an undisclosed fee comes as the government of Jordan has awards power purchase agreements for 12 solar energy projects, seeking to install 200 megawatts in total. It will result in about 2.3 million tonnes of CO2 saved during its PPA term, which is roughly enough to power 15,000 homes. Prior to the acquisition a 20-year power purchase agreement had already been signed with Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (NEPCO). Germany’s ET Solutions AG will be providing engineering, procurement and construction services.
