Vestas Strides Onwards, Winning 90 MW Order For The Largest Wind Park In Greece

Vestas increased its presence in southern Europe with an order for 90 MW of V136-3.45 MW turbines from Eltech Anemos S.A. places, delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode. The wind park will be the largest in Greece and the first in the country featuring the V136-3.45 MW. The contract comprises supply and installation of the wind turbines as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM4000) service agreement to optimise energy output at all times. Delivery of the wind turbines is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2018.

Nordex Scores Triple Win In France, Also Installs Largest Turbine To Date

The Nordex Group has been awarded three new contracts covering a total capacity of 36 megawatts in France. Different project developers and power station operators have placed orders for the installation of a total of 13 N131/3000, N117/3000 and N117/2400 turbines. The company will be installing its N131/3000 turbine in France for the first time. With a rotor diameter of 131 metres, it will be the largest turbine installed in France to date. The turbine will be able to generate large energy yields even in light wind regions and fits perfectly to the site conditions thanks to its very low acoustic output levels. With an installed capacity of over 1.7 GW, Nordex is one of the market leaders in France, servicing its customers’ wind power systems via a dense network of 15 service stations. Work on the wind farms is to commence this year.

Intersolar Europe 2017: A Meeting Point For The Solar Industry

Intersolar Europe, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners, is now open. This year’s exhibition focuses on the new energy world. One of the highlights is the special exhibit Smart Renewable Energy. Other topics include new financing and business models for photovoltaics (PV), large-scale PV power plants and the operation and maintenance of PV installations. Manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers and partners of the solar industry will be in Munich until June 2. Once again, ees Europe – Europe’s largest and most visited exhibition for batteries and energy storage – is taking place at the same time.

Trina’s Solar Revolution: DUOMAX Twin Packs 25% Additional Generating Capacity

Trina Solar has announced the launch of its high-efficiency bifacial module DUOMAX Twin, which generates power from both the front and back sides of the solar module and performs well even under weak light conditions. The front side receives direct sunlight while the back side receives reflected and scattered light. Compared with traditional single-sided modules, the DUOMAX Twin can deliver as much as 25% additional generating capacity. The company’s leadership in PERC cell technology has achieved several world records and total shipments of over 1 Gigawatt over the past years.

Russia: Abundance Of Renewables Can Fuel Growth; Quadruple Clean Energy By 2030

Russia can increase the share of renewables in its energy mix from roughly 3 percent today to more than 11 percent by 2030, according to new findings by IRENA. The growth in renewable energy use would represent nearly a fourfold increase in the share of renewables between 2014 and 2030. To implement the study’s recommendations, an annual investment of approximately USD 15 billion per year between 2015 and 2050 is required, but IRENA shows that the benefits can exceed costs when externalities related to human health and climate change are considered. According to current estimates Russia has the largest wind potential in the world.

Today, Every Fifth Utility Company In Germany Offers Photovoltaics To Households

The energy transition is changing the face of the energy market and its stakeholders. For utilities, this process also means a restructuring that will affect all areas. The energy transition involves products and services in the energy efficiency, mobility, electricity and heat sectors. It, therefore, creates numerous opportunities for utilities to grow by coming up with innovative solutions, but it also brings many risks. Customer relationships are changing. Simple power delivery is being replaced by more complex prosumer relationships. The portfolio of utility companies now consists of products such as photovoltaic installations and electrical storage systems, as well as new services in the mobility sector.

Morocco Rises: Starts Construction On The World’s Largest Solar Power Complex

In the presence of the Moroccan King, Mohammed VI, construction commenced on the country’s fourth power plant – NOORo IV – which will become the largest solar power complex in the world, providing electricity for 1.3 million people. After commissioning, at the beginning of 2018, the PV plant will enable annual savings of at least 56,000 tonnes in CO2 emissions. When all four power plants are combined, CO2 emissions will be reduced by around 800,000 tonnes every year. The Noor complex is scheduled to be completed by 2019 and supply a total of 580 MW of output power from three solar thermal energy plants and one photovoltaic plant.

Large-Scale PV Finance Amongst Hot Topics At Intersolar Europe Conference 2017

The increasing number of investments in large-scale PV plant constructions worldwide are raising new questions about the industry. What options are available for financing PV power plants? Which markets will be relevant in the future? What is the role of smart renewable energy, i.e. combining energy generation, storage, and management? Experts are set to discuss these at the Intersolar Europe Conference, taking place in Munich (May 30–31). The event runs alongside Intersolar Europe, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners, (May 31–June 2).
